Our Story

M and I got married in 2006. He wanted to wait a bit before having kids. In the Fall of 2007 he said he was ready. It happened to be in the middle of a cycle, and I got pregnant. (Once upon a time I was super fertile and really knew nothing about TTC). Our first ultrasound showed it was ectopic. I had 2 shots of methotrexate which caused the cells to inflame and my right tube ruptured. One emergency surgery later, I was down a tube.

We tried on our own for a year before heading to the RE. We did 3 rounds of injectable IUIs (follistim and clomid). We started a 4th IUI without clomid, but the only mature follicles I had were on the right side, and we didn't see the point in continuing. We waited until the new year and did our first round of IVF in March 2010. We transferred 1 and froze 12 (I had 24 eggs retrieved, and 18 embryos). I ended up with a chemical pregnancy. We took a few months off and did a frozen transfer in June 2010. We transferred 1 and she stuck around.

We welcomed our little miracle 3 weeks early after 5 weeks of bedrest due to my pre-eclampsia. I had a c-section after 13 hours of labor. She was stuck in my rib cage and never dropped. She was absolutely perfect. I had some complications after surgery and ended up needing 2 units of blood. After 5 days in the hospital, we came home and started our journey as a family of 3.
